Day 1: Arrival in Dubrovnik

Aerial view of Dubrovnik walled Old Town on Croatia Adriatic coast

Arrival Day

Upon your arrival you will have a private transfer to your hotel, with free time for the rest of the day. Dubrovnik sits on Croatia’s southernmost Adriatic coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979 and nicknamed the Pearl of the Adriatic. It is known for its preserved white stone defensive walls, forts and towers, red roofed Baroque houses and Gothic Renaissance palaces, set against a crystal clear sea and striking countryside.

Guided Walking Tour

This morning you will be met by your driver at the lobby of your hotel and driven to the Pile City Gate to meet your guide, who will take you on a walking tour of the city including the Rector’s Palace, the Dominican Monastery and the City Walls. You will enter the Old Town through the Pile Gate, the city’s main entrance, overlooked by the Minčeta and Bokar forts, two of Dubrovnik’s most recognizable symbols. Visit the Franciscan Monastery, one of the finest examples of Gothic and Romanesque architecture in Dubrovnik. Walking on, you will reach Stradun, Dubrovnik’s most famous street, and see the City Cathedral, the Church of St. Blaise, the Sponza Palace, the Rector’s Palace, the bell towers and Orlando’s Column. Return to your hotel.

Activity Day · Sea Kayaking

This morning you will be transferred to the Pile Gate area for a half day of sea kayaking along the coast beneath the city walls, or another activity of your choosing. Those who prefer can instead explore Lokrum Island, a short boat ride from the Old Town, swimming and snorkeling off its rocky coves. Return to your hotel by private transfer.

Travel Day · Mali Ston

This morning you will check out of your hotel and drive toward Split, stopping in Mali Ston on the Pelješac peninsula for an oyster harvesting experience and a traditional lunch of local mussels and shellfish, set in one of Croatia’s best wine producing regions with views over the surrounding vineyards. Here you can also see the Walls of Ston, a 5 km defensive wall and the second-longest in the world after the Great Wall of China. Continue on to Split and check in to your hotel.

Guided City Tour

This morning you will meet your guide for a private sightseeing tour of Split’s old town, Croatia’s second-largest city and one of the great seaports of the Adriatic. The historical monuments, museums and galleries are found near the old harbour, and Diocletian’s Palace stands as one of the best-preserved Roman royal residences in the world.

Day Trip · Trogir

Today you will visit Diocletian’s Palace in more depth. Built as the retired Emperor Diocletian’s residence, with the rest of the complex once housing a military garrison in the 4th century, it is one of the most complete surviving Roman palace remains and a landmark of European and world heritage. Continue to Trogir, a small island town 30 km from Split, set within medieval walls with Romanesque and Renaissance architecture from its centuries under Venetian rule. Trogir’s cathedral earned the town its UNESCO World Heritage status in 1999. Return to Split.

Day Trip · Krka & Šibenik

This morning you will be driven to Krka National Park for a private tour of its waterfalls, the park’s namesake river known for its seven cascades, a monastery and old mills now converted into small galleries. Walk the forest path to Skradinski Buk, one of the park’s most attractive spots with cascades and a natural pool, and see Roški Slap, the widest of the park’s falls. Continue to Šibenik, the oldest native Croatian town on this coast, founded by Croats rather than by the Greeks, Illyrians or Romans who founded its neighbours, and home to the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St. James. The Kornati archipelago nearby comprises around 150 islands, the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. After your tour, enjoy a wine-pairing dinner in Šibenik, then drive back to Split.
