DAY BY DAY

Day 1: Arrival in Ljubljana
Arrival Day
Upon arrival in Ljubljana, you will be met by a local representative for an orientation and a private transfer to your hotel. The evening is free at your leisure.
Day 2: Ljubljana and Lake Bled
Guided Tour & Day Trip
This morning, enjoy a guided tour of Ljubljana’s old town, with its museums, galleries, romantic bridges and artsy cafés. Then drive to Lake Bled, an alpine resort under an hour north of the city, known for its emerald lake, a small island church, surrounding forests and a medieval castle. Walk the lakeside streets, visit the castle on its rocky cliff, and take a boat ride on the lake before driving back to Ljubljana.
Day 3: Plitvice Lakes
Travel Day · UNESCO Site
Drive about three hours to Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia’s largest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage natural site, known for its 16 turquoise travertine lakes linked by waterfalls, set in forests that shelter wolves, bears and rare bird species. Continue with a scenic drive to the coastal town of Trogir, then on to Split for the overnight.
Day 4: Split and Hvar

Check out and visit Split, Croatia’s second-largest city, home to Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments, along with the Peristyle, the Temple of Jupiter and the Cathedral of St. Domnius. Take the ferry to Hvar and check in to your hotel.
Day 5: Hvar
Wine Tour
Spend the morning touring Hvar’s old town, St. Stephen’s Square and the old castle overlooking the Pakleni Islands. In the afternoon, enjoy a wine tour of Hvar in an olive grove with views of the UNESCO-listed Stari Grad Plain. The evening is free at leisure; Hvar’s Carpe Diem is one of the most famous nightspots on the Adriatic.
Day 6: Dubrovnik
Travel + Guided Walking Tour
Take the ferry to Dubrovnik. Walk the roughly 2 kilometers of ancient city walls for sweeping views over the Old Town and the Adriatic, then join a guided tour of the Old Port, the Church of St. Blaise and the Sponza Palace. In the evening, consider Buža Bar for sunset views, or simply enjoy free time on Dubrovnik’s beaches and in its old town.
Day 7: Dubrovnik and Mostar
Day Trip · Bosnia & Herzegovina
Take a day trip to Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina, known for its Ottoman-era houses and the 16th-century Stari Most, or Old Bridge, a celebrated feat of engineering for its time. Explore the Old Bazaar, its historic mosques and the Turkish House before returning to Dubrovnik.
Day 8: Dubrovnik and Budva
Day Trip · Montenegro
Take a day trip to Budva, Montenegro, where the Old Town is the main draw for a stroll and a coffee, alongside its well-known beaches. Return to Dubrovnik in the evening.
Day 9: Kotor and Budva
Travel Day
Drive into Montenegro, stopping in Cavtat before the border. Pass the coastal villages of Herceg Novi and Perast on the way to Kotor, and see Our Lady of the Rocks in Boka Bay. Enjoy lunch and a guided history tour of Kotor’s old town, with free time to climb to the fortress for sweeping views. Continue to Budva for the overnight, passing the island of Sveti Stefan, a famous resort once host to figures including Kirk Douglas, Sylvester Stallone and Jeremy Irons.
Day 10: Berat
Travel Day
Check out and cross into Albania via Shkodër, with its Rozafa Castle, and the seaside town of Durrës, continuing to Berat. See the 13th-century Kalaja Castle along with its Byzantine churches and Ottoman-era mosques.
Day 11: Ohrid
Travel Day · UNESCO Site
Cross into North Macedonia and arrive in Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage town on Lake Ohrid, the largest and one of the deepest lakes in the Balkans.
Day 12: Ohrid
Guided Sightseeing
Visit the National Museum, the Gallery of Icons, and the churches of St. Sofia and St. Clement, regarded as the first university in Europe. Make a pilgrimage to the Sveti Naum monastery, perched on a cliff above the lake.
Day 13: Departure from Tiranë
Departure Day
Drive to Tirana for a look at the National Museum, the Ethem Bey Mosque and the clock tower in the city center, along with the story of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg, who defended the country against the Ottoman Empire. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
